Thank you for Visiting!

Having had a front row seat on 9/11, the importance to me of living in a place with positive, constructive engagement became – and remains – crystal-clear. When I went looking, Deerfield seemed to be a place where this – what I later came to call dooryard community – might happen.
After thirty years in finance and management consulting, I have devoted this past decade in Deerfield to the restoration of 18th and 19th century properties, working with a variety of artisans, crafts and trades people, as well as others to try and put these structures on a solid, modern and sustainable footing for their next century of exposure to the elements – and inhabitants. This experience has taught me a great deal about old houses, but also about engaging with people to work together and to solve problems, about how a small community works, and about the practicalities and tools that are handy to make things run smoothly. I would bring all these skills to bear as a Select Board member – and as I continue to learn.
Over the last three years, I have attended almost all of the meetings of the Select Board, the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals, while serving on the Heritage Commission and, more recently, the Conservation Commission and the Energy Committee. During this past year, I have been actively engaged in making Town website postings available by email (townofdeerfieldnh.com/subscribe), as well as in the effort to bring Zoom interactive capability to the George B. White public meeting hall, so that citizens can attend remotely meetings that are held there.
I believe it is important to approach matters positively, to encourage and facilitate citizen engagement, to foster an environment of transparency and an ethos of accountability in governing, and to ensure access to – and the accuracy of – the information citizens need to make informed community decisions.
